You need some of the spawners to give you the licorice you need, but you don't need them all and can safely destroy most of them. If you leave them all on the board they will be unlocked as you make matches and the licorice will quickly take over the board.
Keep your eye on the number of licorice you need and make sure you have enough before you take a chance on destroying the final spawners.
